Carol Emi Bretschneider, MD, joined the faculty of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine’s Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS). Dr. Bretschneider is passionate about pelvic health. She believes that the most important part of the physician-patient relationship is communication and education. Her practice is centered on a collaborative approach to care with the goal of creating individualized plans to meet the unique concerns of each and every one of her patients.
Dr. Bretschneider completed her fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic in 2019 after completing her residency at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Bretschneider is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has a strong interest in both teaching and research. During her fellowship, Dr. Bretschneider focused her research pursuits on population-based database studies and was awarded a Cleveland Clinic Center for Population Health Research Grant. She also engaged in basic science research investigating the etiology of mesh complication in an animal model of prolapse for which she was awarded a Cleveland Clinic Research Program Committee Award.
